Hi everyone! 👋 In this week’s #5minpodcast, I talk about an interesting topic that blends humor and reflection: the role of luck in our projects. 🍀 I recently came across a post where a recruiter said he throws away half of all job applications because he doesn’t want to work with people who have bad luck. It was meant as a joke, of course, but it made me think: what part does luck really play in our professional lives and in our projects? Projects always exist in a space of uncertainty, and that’s where we often confuse luck with preparation. Luck, by itself, doesn’t replace competence or good planning. But when luck meets a well-prepared team and a solid plan, that’s when things truly align. As the saying goes, luck favors the prepared. And this brings us to probability. Probability is not a promise, it’s a tool for making better decisions. When we say there’s a 10% chance of something happening, it doesn’t mean it will happen once every ten projects. Each project is independent, and probability helps us navigate uncertainty, not predict destiny. In project management, success doesn’t come from hoping for luck... it comes from being ready when opportunity arrives. Preparation turns uncertainty into opportunity. 🚀 🎧 Listen to the full episode: https://ricardo-vargas.com/podcasts/luck-probability-and-risk-what-is-really-under-your-control-in-projects/ Let’s keep managing with awareness, not superstition.
