Dear Friends 2022 is over. This #5minpodcast episode is the last one of the year. Since 2007, I have dedicated this episode to trying to make sense of the year that is coming to an end and prepare myself for the future. This year was, in some ways, a different year. Maybe because we recently emerged from the lockdown situation caused by COVID, society stayed in something like a “limbo” state. In particular, I want to highlight three noteworthy aspects of 2022. The first is the level of unpredictability: at the beginning of this year, a war broke out in Europe, and few saw it coming and the full consequences of it. Climate change also contributed to the perception that the problems are not a problem for future generations and that climate disruptions are happening now. Just look at the extreme climate events we are facing pretty much everywhere. The second point concerns new technologies, like the clean energy from nuclear fusion that was just announced. Technology is more and more at the center of every single business worldwide. The third and final point is about stability. Many of you will agree with me: the only place you can find stability is in the dictionary. Please look at the layoffs in technology companies that surprised most of the workforce, the Twitter changes in leadership, and its disruptive impact. Companies considered safe places to work and grow are not that great anymore. When I reflect on the future to find out what I need to do to survive and thrive in this unstable environment, I immediately come up with three things I would love to wrap up in 2022. First, our emotional capability to handle unpredictability, and second, our ability to manage our fears. And last, and probably most important, is how to improve our ability to adapt to the different challenges we face. Listen to the #5minpodcast to learn more! I wish all of you and your loved ones 2023 full of happiness, peace, and adaptability 😊❤️ With love, Ricardo https://ricardo-vargas.com/podcasts/the-year-in-review-and-what-to-expect-of-2023/ #retrospective2022 #perspectives2023 #endofyeargoals #projectmanagement #careerdevelopment
