Hi Everyone One more 5-minute Podcast Episode is now live. This time, I addressed one question I received on one of my YouTube videos about the #pmbok7. The question was: “Were Human Skills Only Highlighted in PMBOK Guide 7th Edition?” After reading and reflecting on the question, I decided to debunk some of the myths of this statement. Since I started in Project Management, one of the most significant and relevant topics of study was soft skills. And this was 1995/1996... Almost 30 years ago. I will never forget Prof. Vijay Verma’s books on Human Resources and Communications for Project Managers. It was a must-read for all other PMs and me. However, the way the PMBOK Guide was structured by the Project Management Institute in the editions until the 6th was focused on the processes, and by having this focus, it seems it was more a “technical” and “hard skills” discipline. With the changes to the 7th edition, the guide became much more evident on the competencies required through the principles. But this does not mean that soft skills have become relevant only now.
