Hi All Imagine how hard it is to swallow a fish, especially the “middle” part of it. Sadly, most of our projects are like whole fish. They are not prepared in small, digestible pieces. You need to eat them in one bite. And it is hard to swallow. This idea, originating in Thomas Lah and JB Wood’s book "Technology as a Service Playbook,” is represented by a visual that forms the shape of a fish, where one side of the fish is revenue and the other is expenditures. Many times, you need to swallow the “costs and effort" for a long time to start seeing the revenue increase. I often apply this analogy to projects. Challenges will outweigh results throughout the journey but will eventually diminish as the project nears completion. Projects are “hard work.” This is why project management exists. If it was meant to be easy, you do not need to manage it. It would be self-managed 😃 Thanks to these challenges, we have jobs! 🙏 We must be persistent and resilient enough to "swallow the fish" and not "throw it up" because if we do that, we will only experience the challenges of the "pain" and no benefit from the "gain.” About one year ago, I recorded a podcast exactly about this topic.
