Hi everyone! ☀️ In this week’s episode of my #5minutespodcast, I explore a fascinating and deeply rooted cultural trait from my home country: the Jeitinho Brasileiro — or the Brazilian way of getting things done. 🇧🇷 Brazil is known worldwide for its incredible creativity and ability to solve problems with limited resources. This ingenuity is one of our greatest assets, and I deeply admire the Brazilian teams I work with for their clever, outside-the-box thinking. However, like any strength, when taken too far, it can become a risk. Jeitinho Brasileiro — that clever workaround, the last-minute fix, the shortcut — can be incredibly effective in solving immediate challenges. But when it becomes a habit, it can lead to a culture of improvisation over planning, short-term thinking over sustainable results. Many organizations and individuals fall into the trap of relying too heavily on quick fixes rather than building robust systems. Over time, this undermines quality, accountability, and long-term success. It’s a fine line: knowing when to be resourceful and when to invest in structure and discipline. 🎧 In this episode, I reflect on how we can preserve the brilliance of Brazilian creativity while avoiding the pitfalls of cutting corners. 🔗 Listen to the full episode here: https://ricardo-vargas.com/podcasts/when-the-brazilian-way-becomes-a-trap-the-risk-of-normalizing-improvisation/ The episode is also available in Portuguese (just switch to PT on the link) and on all major podcast platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Podcasts.
