Hello Everyone Today we reached a relevant milestone in the podcast journey. 🔊 The combined views of the 611 episodes reached 12,017,507. It is hard to believe everything started when I saw a magazine on the newsstand with the cover saying, “Podcast will change the way you distribute content.” And this was not 2023. It was 2007. 😊 And this week’s episode is all about communications, and how we deliver it can be critical to the results we aim to achieve. Each of us brings unique beliefs, skills, experiences, and perspectives to the table. Noise and wear and tear are very detrimental to the project, making our communication unclear and inadequate. Consequently, the information we thought to be useful ended up being harmful. We must understand the concept of rich and poor communication media. Richard Daft and Robert Lengel created this concept a long time ago as part of the Media Richness Theory or MRT. When information is presented in a variety of ways, it increases the likelihood that recipients will grasp its significance. It’s difficult to understand the message sent over a poor communication channel because there aren’t enough resources to clarify it. However, using a rich communication channel necessitates more time to prepare and explain; in some cases, to communicate effectively directly, we need personal interaction, where we can easily perceive verbal and non-verbal cues and respond accordingly. When we send a message with just a few words to get a quick solution (like we do most of the time), we need to be aware that we are using poor media, which may cause different interpretations and unnecessary stress. In this episode, I try to reflect on improving communications and being more effective. Finally, I want to celebrate this milestone by thanking my wife, Zelia, for her unlimited support. She supported me silently (literally) during the endless recordings during these 15 years and more than 600 episodes (more than 1,000 if we count Portuguese and English). Thanks from my heart! I love you. Have a wonderful week ahead. Ricardo Viana Vargas
