Hello, Everyone Do you ever contemplate when it’s time to quit? This is what I talk about in this week’s episode of my #5minpodcast. I just finished reading “Quit” by Annie Duke, and I couldn’t have picked a better time to read it, given that now is when we’re all “revisiting” our 2022 and planning for 2023. It is an excellent read, mainly because it is completely counterintuitive. Staying in a difficult situation is often seen as a virtue because it exemplifies resilience, determination, and grit. Leaving a challenging and stressful work or personal situation is often viewed as a weak decision, demonstrating fragility. On the other hand, the idea put forth by Annie Duke shows that failing to acknowledge when it is time to move on only compounds our problems. Persistence does not necessarily lead us to the long-term goal. Another point I discuss on the podcast is that we often only decide to leave when it is too late... Sadly, the damage is already evident. The last topic I cover is “kill metrics,” or the metrics you need to implement to make the “quit” decision. I hope you find the episode helpful.
