Dear colleagues and project practitioners There is a new video on my youtube channel (rvvargas). One of my biggest challenges is convincing people that they must understand what is behind a simple click on a software tool. And this is the case of the critical path. I doubt many people understand what is behind the well-known red bars on a Gantt Chart or the red route on a network. Some people think the software does magic to show what is most relevant to your project schedule. Because of this lack of knowledge, I decided to make a video that explained what the critical path is and how to figure it out step by step with just a pen and a whiteboard. We all know that this concept was created more than 70 years ago. But it’s still very useful for capital projects and other projects that use incremental steps. Sadly, very few people know what is behind that math, and it is like being a pro in Microsoft Excel without knowing math. It is a risky thing! 💣 In the 30-minute video, I calculate a simple network with the viewer from scratch. I also included a FREE download in the video to help you reinforce your knowledge. The video is posted below and on my YouTube channel. Finally, I want to make a special request to you: share this post and the videos with those who may need them, like PMP and CAPM credential candidates, those starting in the area, and those aiming to review the concepts they already learned. I’m saying this because creating these videos takes enormous work, and if we do not reach the audience that would benefit, it becomes pointless all the effort... Consider also subscribing to the channel. It helps a lot in the promotion of the content we are working hard to develop 🙂 I hope you like it.
