One of my biggest challenges is convincing people that they must understand what is behind a simple click on a software tool. And this is the case of the critical path. I doubt many people understand what is behind the well-known red bars on a Gantt Chart or the red route on a network. Some people think the software does magic to show what is most relevant to your project schedule. Because of this lack of knowledge, I decided to make a video that explained what the critical path is and how to figure it out step by step with just a pen and a whiteboard. We all know that this concept was created more than 70 years ago. But it’s still very useful for capital projects and other projects that use incremental steps. Sadly, very few people know what is behind that math, and it is like being a pro in Microsoft Excel without knowing math. It is a risky thing! 💣 In the 30-minute video, I calculate a simple network with the viewer from scratch. I also included a FREE download in the video to help you reinforce your knowledge.
