I’m not even sure I’ve ever shared this story here in this way before. I passed the PMI certification in April 1999, after an intense period of study based on the PMBOK 1st Edition (1996). At the time, the material was extremely dense and far from intuitive. When I first started preparing, I was faced with a large volume of highly structured but very technical information, which wasn’t easy to digest or organize in a meaningful way. I’ve always been a very visual learner. I need to see relationships, structures, and connections. Almost as if knowledge needs to take shape rather than remain as isolated text 📊 but back then, there were very few tools or approaches that supported that way of learning. That gap created a real challenge for me. Instead of trying to force linear memorization, I naturally started looking for ways to reorganize the content in a more visual, structured, and intuitive format ✍️ Something that made sense to how I process information. Over time, that personal need evolved into something more: creating PMBOK-related content 📚 It wasn’t a strategic decision at the beginning, it was simply a response to a real difficulty I experienced as a learner. Looking back, it all started there: at the intersection between highly technical content and a visual way of thinking. And from that friction came the motivation to make complex concepts simpler, clearer, and more visual. And it’s been that way ever since. I even launched the PMBOK8 course this month, so just look how far we’ve come. These photos that I share here are not from that time… I don’t think I even have any photos from my study period back then in 1999. They are actually from the PMBOK 4th Edition era, and from a hand-drawn flow I prepared at the time 🧠📝 It feels so good to look back and remember it all!
