Hello everyone, Alex Wang recently shared this visual, and I think it captures an important shift. Even if, like all models, it’s a simplification. The part that resonated most with me isn’t whether AI will replace jobs. It’s how AI changes where humans create value. AI will increasingly handle the first draft, routine analysis, and repetitive execution. But the value of experienced professionals won’t come from doing more tasks. It will come from providing context, exercising judgment, making trade-offs, asking better questions, and deciding what should happen next. There’s another implication that I think deserves more attention: If AI reduces the amount of entry-level work, organizations need to rethink how people gain experience. This also connects with a theme I explored in my latest newsletter about the future of project management: AI isn’t just changing jobs, it is changing the path to expertise. And I suspect that’s true far beyond project management.
