A new episode of my 5 Minutes Podcast is available, and I cover the need for us, as project managers, to expand our perspectives beyond the immediate concerns of our projects. We often spend a lot of time looking for tools to improve our ability to manage projects, ways to improve communications, and new paths to motivate our teams. Of course, it is unquestionable that these are super relevant topics. ❗ But are we seeing the bigger picture by just doing that? Last week, I spent a reasonable amount of time watching some discussions online during the World Economic Forum in Davos. The coming trends may make our concerns with the project’s inner circle irrelevant—trends in technology and AI, geopolitical challenges, changes in global trade, and wars. ⚠️ All of these have a massive potential to challenge organizations and governments to rethink their business model and reimagine how to deliver value. And one of the key drivers to deliver value is through projects. We must stay tuned, ready to adapt, and continuously learn to ensure we remain relevant to our organization and society. In a few years, or maybe a few months, we may see technologies and geopolitical changes that potentially make the way we work irrelevant. And we need to be aware and ready to adapt. I strongly suggest you take a look at the WEF forum and listen to some of the discussions, especially “Technology in a Turbulent World,” “The Global Economic Outlook,” “Defending Truth,” and “Anticipating the Middle East in 2024.” I hope you find it helpful, and I wish you a fantastic week ahead!
